Just a Thought… 9 April

The greatest crisis coming on the world isn’t global warming, financial crisis, inflation, poverty or even wars. The MOST important crisis coming on the world will be the return of Christ and the judgment of God.

Yet as we saw last Sunday evening from Matthew ch 26, even as the Lord Jesus warned His disciples about the coming judgment of God, He described God’s rescue plan to them.

The fact is that although our world looks and feels as if it is out of control and in chaos, it isn’t. God’s plans ARE being fulfilled:

  • We saw it in the Lord Jesus’ description of His death and resurrection – multiple times before it happened on that first Easter.
  • We saw it in His being anointed with perfume prior to death, simply by a woman who wanted to express her love to Him and whose devotion has been described ever since as the Gospel has spread across the world.
  • We saw it in the sly plans of the sinful religious authorities, who were ignoring the clear commands of scripture to neither lie nor kill, yet not realising they were under judgment and fulfilling scripture.
  • We saw it in the treachery of Judas who was driven by evil intent yet was fulfilling God’s rescue plan for the world.

Tempting as it is to believe that we are the victims of circumstance, as believers we must always remember that God’s plans are being fulfilled on both a global, national, local and personal level, to glory the Lord Jesus and to make each of us who trust in Him more like Him.

This faith in God’s sovereignty should have a profound effect on our lives in our actions, reactions and choices. Simply put: will you trust and obey Him?!
