Why write a blog?

Why write a blog? It strikes me that there are plenty of really clever people who are already writing far more great stuff than most us have time to read – so why am I doing this? The short-answer is that I’m doing it for our church! According to Eph 4, my God-given task is to prepare God’s people for works of service, and there simply isn’t enough time in everyone’s busy schedule each week for me to help everyone gain a Biblical perspective on their life, the universe and everything.

The danger is however that I could find myself driven to simply write for the sake of it (Facebook is full of such stuff). So my aim is more limited: Our fortnightly Home-Groups are great occasions for discussing how to put what we’ve learned the previous Sunday into practice. Our hope is that as people get to know each other better, so they will encourage one-another to think about the Lord Jesus in every area of their lives. This blog is intended to feed-into that process: Rather than write about whatever is on my mind (a dangerous idea as I look at it right now!), I will supplement the notes for our Home-Groups with some thoughts here. If you attend EECC this is for you. Please read and feedback to me – I’d love to discuss it with you! If you don’t attend our church, well, you’re welcome to read whats here, but you may find that you just don’t get some of the links / references… but I pray it helps you to the same ultimate end of being presented mature in Christ (Eph 4:13) !
