Just a Thought… 28 May

There is so much uncertainty around us: from sad news of war, to economic turmoil, to political instability, to broken relationships…

As people we crave peace and security when a broken world that has rejected God can only deliver more brokenness. Nowhere is that more visible than the world’s wholesale rejection of the Lord Jesus: in some cases that rejection is clear and persecution is obvious, but in others it can be quite subtle and we must be alert to the devil’s ways and schemes: feigned concern at some of His influence, seeds of doubt sown in our thinking, laughter at just some of His Words, believing just some of His claims such that we question whether or not we can fully commit…

Yet as we heard last Sunday evening from Matthew Ch 27 & 28, the world’s conclusion was to reject the Lord Jesus, kill and bury Him… and make sure everyone knew that’s how He ended….

But the LORD had other plans.

As some of the women found at the tomb, God had raised Him from the dead and the angel simply opened it so they could see it was empty:

“The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”(Matt 28:5,6)

The key glorious certainty that illuminates all our lives is that Jesus IS alive! Still today!

No matter what we’re facing in life we can be sure that we serve a risen Saviour and that fact puts every other uncertainty in our lives into the shadows.

No matter what we don’t know about the future, we can be sure of this: Jesus is alive and He is Lord!
