Just a thought… 28 Dec

Let’s not forget: the Baby born in Bethlehem is God the son! This is the one whom John sees in Revelation ch 1:

14 The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

We heard on Christmas morning from Phil ch 2 that He…

“made himself nothing by taking the very form of a servant, being made in human likeness.”

God the Son stepped down into humanity, down further into death, and He stepped down even further down to death on a cross!

The humility and horror of experiencing humanity in a broken world, with all of its illness, sin and distress was massive, but to willingly experience death as He did to save you and me surely teaches us how much we are loved!

Yet that’s not where it stopped! What happened next must shape our thinking:

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

We are saved by the LORD with plans for our good and for His glory! THAT’S the message of Christmas and all of life.

Let’s encourage one another with THAT certainty as we face 2022 together.
